Job description

Job overview

The Finance Specialist will work closely with the VP of Operations and the Finance and Operations teams to ensure accurate bookkeeping and timely payment of bills and invoices. They will also actively and creatively contribute to the continuous improvement of the company’s accounting solutions and assist with large finance projects, such as budgets and projections. We are looking for a strong team member who is a self- motivated multitasker, follows through on tasks, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. Due to the bilingual nature of our Finance team, we are looking for a person proficient in both English and Spanish.

Key responsibilities

Finance
  • Operate the ERP system on day to-day basis and record transactions
  • Monitor AR, deposit and reconcile received payments, and drive collections efforts
  • Provide excellent timely customer service with regards to billing questions
  • Process AP invoices and make payments to vendors
  • Assist with payroll by processing employee reimbursements
  • Perform month-end bank account reconciliations and assist with accounting close
  • Monitor the cash flow and make relevant recommendations
  • Generate monthly sales and financial reports and review them for accuracy
  • Assist with forecasting and financial projections
  • Monitor sales tax collections and compliance with relevant state and local laws and assist with registrations and filings
  • Propose improvements to the transaction recording process and implement improvement projects in coordination and management
  • Work with Operations, Educational Technology, Sales, and Marketing teams to implement the company’s spending policies
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the VP of Operations

Required qualifications, knowledge, and skills

  • At least a bachelor’s degree
  • 2+ years of bookkeeping experience
  • 1+ year of experience in an administrative role
  • Experience using an accounting software and ERP solutions
  • Proficiency in Spanish
  • High flexibility and adaptability, as required to meet deadlines, and coordinate with colleagues in different time zones
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills, with ability handle multiple tasks with different priorities, and independently manage timelines and deadlines
  • Experience in delivering results with limited supervision in a fast paced, cross- functional environment, both independently and as a team member
