Novice Low to Novice High
1. Thematic Pairing
Read a short story that complements a Reporteros unit (e.g., food, travel, family) and identify how the themes connect.

2. Story Maps
Use graphic organizers to track characters, setting, conflict, and resolution as students read.

3. Fluency Practice

4. Chapter Summaries

I. P. Zúñiga is a Spanish language educaator in Nothern New Jersey, where she has taught levels K-12 for over 20 years. She is the author of several comprehensible readers for young learners.
Nayka Barrios Jaén is a Spanish language educator in Florida. She teaches K-12, and college conversational classes. In addition to ME DESPIERTO Y BAILO, she has also authored other literature for young language learners
Jennifer Degenhardt is a renowned author, presenter, and Spanish instructor at UCONN Stamford. Passionate about using storytelling and writing to help students explore their identities, her books address cultural, social, economic, and political themes, fostering essential conversations inside and outside the classroom.
Verónica Moscoso is an accomplished storyteller, author of engaging Spanish books for students, journalist, and award-winning documentary filmmaker from Quito, Ecuador. A UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism alumna, her fun and captivating books are perfect for Spanish learners.
