Your Path to Proficiency

The Student Edition of REPORTEROS features six units that immerse students in the cultures and traditions of Spanish-speaking countries through the eyes of "reporteros" and "reporteras." This communicative, proficiency-oriented program emphasizes real-world Spanish, enhancing language skills through authentic reporting and interactive activities available also on The KWL Hub. Students engage in interpretive, presentational, and interpersonal communication while exploring diverse cultural topics.

Annotated Teacher's Edition

The Teacher’s Edition contains an abundance of annotations created to complement various teaching contexts and styles (Remote learning, CI, TPR, Gamification…), save time in class preparation, and implement ways for effective differentiation in instruction and assessment. It also includes answer keys, proficiency benchmarks, ideas and recommendations on how to extend the activities further, and much more.

Workbook:
Building Proficiency

The Workbook contains an abundance of activities to practice and expand the grammar and vocabulary presented in the Student Edition. It also includes sections to practice the three modes of communication (interpretive, presentational, and interpersonal) and offers numerous ideas for developing learning strategies. All activities are graded by difficulty and presented as tearable print-outs, with an interactive and assignable digital version available.

Assessment in REPORTEROS

REPORTEROS includes a comprehensive range of assessments, each accompanied by assessment rubrics to support student learning and evaluate their progress.

The assessment rubrics used in REPORTEROS are based on the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines and Performance Descriptors. They describe the key characteristics of performance, ensuring clear and consistent evaluation criteria.

Assessment Types in REPORTEROS

Formative Assessment:

  • Miniproyectos and Proyectos finales: Formative tools included in the Student Edition, both in print and digital formats. They come with Assessment Rubrics for teachers and Self and Peer Assessment Rubrics for students, enabling self and peer evaluation after project completion.
  • Preparo la Evaluación · IPA: A formative assessment found at the end of each unit in the Student Edition, available in both print and digital formats. It features five activities based on authentic documents and real-life situations, including Interpretive, Presentational, and Interpersonal tasks with assessment rubrics to ensure student understanding.
  • Nuestras culturas: This assessment, available in the Student Edition in both print and digital formats, synthesizes the cultural knowledge students have acquired in the unit, comparing it with their own country or community through writing and/or oral activities. It includes an assessment rubric to guide evaluation.
  • Culture Quizzes: Available in the Workbook, this quiz assesses students' understanding of the cultural content covered in the unit.
  • Grammar and Vocabulary Self-Check Quizzes: Hosted on the platform, these quizzes allow students to self-assess their understanding of grammar and vocabulary, providing immediate feedback for further practice.

Testimonials & Case Studies

“I have found REPORTEROS to be the most effective and communicative textbook I have ever utilized in my teaching. Previously, I had grown weary of exercises that lacked any real-world context, leaving students disconnected from the practical applications of language learning. However, with REPORTEROS, the main focus is on fostering communication while teaching grammar and vocabulary.”

Diego Fernández, The American International School of Vilnius

"I am very happy with the content of the book and my students finally have material they can relate to for their age including all social and technological changes they go through. The truth is that REPORTEROS has changed the dynamics of the Spanish classroom. Now the students can relate to the language better. They no longer see it as something distant and difficult to learn."

Tatiana Alarcón, Salem Academy

"We have long created our own thematic units (which have been excellent) -- but they are a ton of work, and I have loved how deeply contextualized each of the units are in REPORTEROS. My students just did presentations comparing their childhoods and that of their parent/grandparent/etc. and they were able to use such specific and interesting vocabulary (as well as easily recycle vocabulary). They are thriving with REPORTEROS. Big fan."

Stephanie Rudolph, Durham Academy
